Long before I ever had a blog, I was enamored with Emily’s Summer To Do List. I used to make my own and check off the list as I completed each of my to do’s. This idea inspired me to go to the U.S. Open (tennis, not golf) and try-out a new beach in the Rockaways.
Last week, Alyssa and I were chatting about how inspiring we find this list and we decided to create a list of our own. Our 10 Summer Musts!
Five musts are published here and the other five musts are published on her blog.
Without further ado, here are 5 of our 10 Summer Musts!
1. MUST READ:
Allyssa: Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham. I’ve heard so many good things about it, plus it’s by Lauren Graham, which is an automatic win in my book.
2. MUST-SEE MOVIE:
Allyssa: The Heat starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. I don’t even know much about the movie, but it’s bound to be hilarious with those two.
Stacey: Call me a copycat, but I also pick The Heat. Sandra Bullock & Melissa McCarthy?!?! It’s like one movie won the actress lottery.
3. MUST TRAVEL TO:
Allyssa: The Jersey shore. Heading down the shore for the day is a summertime staple!
Stacey: Long Beach, Long Island. An hour after the train leaves Penn station, you arrive at one of the cleanest, most gorgeous beaches. The perfect day trip!
4. MUST EAT:
Allyssa: Ribs. I don’t care what type, as long as they’re slathered in barbecue sauce. Yum!
Stacey: Lobster Rolls! The lobster roll at Ed’s Lobster Bar is my favorite. Delicious!
5. MUST WEAR:
Allyssa: Maxi dresses. I love how they make you look put together, but they’re super easy.
Stacey: Sandals! I think I’ve worn this pair of Enzo Angiolini sandals almost every single day. Je t’aime!
Don’t forget to check out Allyssa’s blog for the other 5 summer must’s! There are 10 altogether! And while you are there, read this post and this post. She’s amazing, right?! And she made the gorgeous image for this blog post. Her design skills are stellar.
And you? Obviously, I want to hear your 5 summer musts, too!!
Until next time!
Postscript 1: Because picking the same movie makes me feel a little too much like a copycat, I saw a trailer for “The Way, Way Back” this past weekend and I think it has major potential. Must see movie #2!
Postscript 2: As much as I find lists inspiring (nerd alert!), the thing I’ve been finding most inspiring lately has been all the creative friends I’ve met through blogging (Hi, Allyssa!). So I’m sneaking in one last must to my list: Must continue to make new friends (but obviously, keep the old). Ah-mazing!
