Because Sometimes Life Is That Good

Likes to Smile Book Club is one of my favorite things. I love to read. I love to talk about books that I have read. The fact that you all read the books and discuss them on my blog?! I want to clap my hands, stomp my feet and squeal with glee. My heart is so warmed. My smile is so big.

When I announced Reconstructing Amelia as our third book, I tweeted Kimberly McCreight to let her know I selected her book. This was her reply:

Be still my beating heart. Because sometimes life is that good.

We discussed ways in which she could participate. She is nicer than you could imagine! As my Gramme would say, “a heart of gold, that one.”

I am so thrilled to announce that Kimberly McCreight let me interview her for my blog. And the interview… it’s so good!! I’m going to publish the interview on Monday, September 9th as the prelude to our discussion. Therefore, I’m going to move our discussion to Wednesday, September 11th. Which means, if you haven’t read the book yet and would like to — you just gained two more days.

I apologize for moving the date on you, but I think you’ll forgive me when you read the interview. Comments always remain open so you can participate at any time.

Speaking of her book… it’s my favorite book I’ve read in all of 2013. I finished it and want to read it again from the beginning. I hope you’ll join us in reading along and for the discussion. I cannot wait to hear what you think.

And I cannot wait for you to read the interview. Squeal with me!! Because sometimes life is that good!

And you? Any great squeal inducing tweets lately (if so, leave a link in the comments!)? Will you be joining us for book club?

Until next time!

xoxo,
Stacey

  1. Wow! How awesome is that?! I can’t wait to read the interview!

    • Hi Allyssa,

It made my week! It was the coolest!! Hope you like the interview tomorrow and hope you’re having an amazing weekend!

      xoxo,

  2. That’s awesome. I think you’d be proud of me…I actually read a book this week!! I real book without kid pictures. Haha, I never have time to read books. Maybe I am on a roll and I should pick up this one too.

  3. Congrats Stacey! I’m excited to read your interview. Unfortunately, I’m not a fast reader, but I plan to put the book on my list to read. Maybe one of these days I’ll be prepared enough to participate in your book club :)

    • Hi Dawn!

Thanks so much!! The interview has NO spoilers, so feel free to read and not worry about learning about the plot. Meanwhile…the plot is so good, so I do hope you read it one day.

I do really struggle with book club with how much time to allow between when I announce it and when we discuss it. There seems to be a balance I haven’t quite figured out yet… I’ll keep experimenting!!

Hope you have a great start to the week!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  4. Ooh, what an absolute TREAT!! I love it when life allows us to connect with others. Your experience sounds like a mixture of the serendipitous and the “doin stuff gets stuff done” effect. While I’m itching for the club discussion, reading the interview will be worth the wait!!

    • Hi Laura Beth!

I’m itching for the discussion, too, so I really hope you enjoy the interview. I haven’t thought about the phrase “doin stuff gets stuff done” in awhile, but I really like it! It’s an excellent point!

      xoxo,
      Stacey
