Let’s Chat #3

Woo to the hoo! It’s time for… our monthly chat. Getting to know everyone who so graciously reads my blog and warms my heart is one of my favorite things! I’m so excited to “chat” with you and read your answers. Grab a cup of coffee, some macarons, and a September issue…

likes-to-smile-lets-chat-3-revised

Here are our five questions this month:

1) Which magazine’s September Issue did you read first?
2) What television shows are you most looking forward to returning? Yes, I said shows. Plural.
3) Do you think Pumpkin Spice Lattes are worth their hype?
4) Will you be watching the EMMY’s this upcoming weekend?
5) The new school year always makes me think of new goals for myself. What’s a goal you have this month?

Here are my answers:

1) SEPTEMBER ISSUE: Martha Stewart Living was read first in my house! Her cover promised 61 ways to organize and I couldn’t wait to see what she suggested. September always feels like a brand new start to the year (much more so than January). I always spend some time reorganizing and setting myself up to tackle whatever life may bring. Plus, her photo styling is stunningly gorgeous and so inspiring. I would love to be at that level!

Postscript: Did you see the instagram joke that was going around where people were taking snapshots of multiple September issues and writing, “All the Septembers issues, All the September issues…” to the tune of Beyonce’s “All the Single Ladies”?? I loved it!

2) THE RETURN OF TV: Where to even begin?! I love TV. I’m looking forward to: The Good Wife, Parenthood, Grey’s Anatomy, Hart of Dixie, Awkward, The Big Bang Theory, Nashville, Homeland, and Scandal. It’s also on my to do list to scope out which new shows I should set my DVR to record (but haven’t yet looked at their premises).

3) PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES: 100%! Also, I love catching the #PSL hashtag on twitter. It’s the little things.

Postscript: Allyssa tweeted me this yesterday. I so need to make it! Agree?

4) WATCHING THE EMMYS: Yes, yes, I will! I will start early with the E! Red Carpet Pre-Show (my favorite of the pre-shows). A good friend is coming over to talk dresses, winners and speeches! I’m so excited! I’m rooting for Kerry Washington for best dress, a Scandal win and best speech. #gladiatorsinsuits

5) GOAL: To focus more on the things I like about myself, to take more “selfies.” and to be okay with the idea that it is going to take more practice to make this blog better. The links go to three blog posts that I read and then thought about for hours (or days) to come. I found them incredibly inspiring. Goal worthy, in fact. Je t’aime!

Your turn! I would love to hear your answers to the 5 questions. And if there is a blog you’ve found particularly inspiring, I would love it if you leave a link in the comments. Feel free to comment on how “Stacey Style” it is that I felt the need to add “postscripts” to my answers above! I always have just one more thought…

Hope you’re having a wonderful September! So excited to chat with you today!

Until next time!

xoxo,
Stacey

  1. Hi Stacey! Happy fall, how is it already September 18?! I love this column idea.
    1. I like you read my MSL first! I’ll be honest, I don’t get a lot of fashion magazines, but I always read my MSL as soon as I get them and September was a great issue!
    2. So many TV shows! The return of fall TV started last night for me with The New Girl and The Mindy Project. I’m also looking forward to the return of Downton Abbey, Law & Order: SVU, Scandal and Parks and Rec. Looks like I’ll be busy this fall!
    3. I love the PSL! I’m also excited to make A Beautiful Mess’s PSL syrup. Yum!
    4. I don’t know if I’ll watch the Emmy’s well see. :) I do love the Oscars thouogh!
    5. This fall is shaping up to be extremely busy personally, professionally and on the blog, I’m really looking for ways to improve myself and Twin Stripe. I have so many ideas but not always the time to execute.

    Have a great day!
    Katie

    • Hi Katie!!

So so so good to hear from you! Thanks so much for “chatting!”

I read MSL as soon as I get them, too, but October’s arrived this week and I’m saving it to savor this weekend with a #PSL!

As a single girl who lives alone in NYC, L&O: SVU terrifies me! I can’t watch it. But I wish I could, because when I do, I get totally caught up in it!

Oooo!!! That syrup does look delicious! Let us know if you try it!

I prefer the Emmy’s to the Oscar’s (admittedly, I watch the Oscars for the dress fashion), because I watch more TV than movies. So I feel more invested :)

Isn’t that always the problem: great ideas and not enough time! Can’t wait to see what you create!!

Hope you have a great day, too!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  2. 1) Glamour, only because my sister-in-law had it. I’m bad at reading magazines at home for some reason, but I loved it!
    2) Downton Abbey and Homeland, for sure. I also want to start watching Breaking Bad (late to the game, I know).
    3) Yes and no… I try to limit them and can only handle two pumps of the syrup. Otherwise they’re a bit overwhelming.
    4) I don’t really follow awards shows, but I’ll definitely tune into the recaps for the fashion, winners and newsworthy moments.
    5) Totally agree with you about the refresh into the fall bringing about more renewal than January. I hadn’t thought of a particular goal, but I think you and I are on the same track. I am learning to stand strong in myself and challenge myself to overcome fears.

    • Hi Emily!

I’m also late to the Breaking Bad series, but I’m so curious. Especially after all the hype this summer!

The Fashion at Awards Shows…oh my! I love it so much!

I agree..learning to stand strong and overcome fears are big goals of mine lately! And being less hard on myself! Hope you’re goals are going well!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  3. 1) Which magazine’s September Issue did you read first?
    – magazines? what are those? Unless the Ikea cataloger counts then my answer is none….
    2) What television shows are you most looking forward to returning? Yes, I said shows. Plural.
So many. I am a TV addict. Sons of Anarchy came back a few weeks ago and that was a big highlight for me. Also love Parenthood & Nashville. And it’s been back for a while, but this season of Breaking Bad has been fantastic so far. We don’t have cable, so some shows i have to wait until they come out on netflix (like Homeland and Scandal)
    3) Do you think Pumpkin Spice Lattes are worth their hype? I think they are good, but i don’t tend to order them…..too much sugar. I am a plain soy latte kinda girl.
    4) Will you be watching the EMMY’s this upcoming weekend? Nope – due to the aforementioned cable issue
    5) The new school year always makes me think of new goals for myself. What’s a goal you have this month? My goal is to get the boxes unpacked and actually have function rooms. Sounds easy enough but it’s taking a heck of a looooong time!

    • Hi Kelly!

I didn’t read the IKEA catalog, I studied it. Every. Single. Page. Totally counts!

I feel like I missed the boat on both Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad. Everyone loves them both! I must catch up. Scandal Season 2 just hit Netflix and it’s SO SO SO good!!

Good luck on the move!! Can’t wait to watch it all unfold on your blog!! So far the new house is looking amazing! Especially that which you’ve already spruced up.

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  4. 1. I haven’t read a magazine in months….
    2. Scandal! Grey’s Anatomy! Parenthood! And there’s probably more, but those are the only two I’m super excited about.
    3. Nope…. but then again I don’t like pumpkin. And I’m not a big coffee drinker. Otherwise, I’m sure I’d be addicted!
    4. I don’t think I’ve ever watched the Emmys. But maybe this year I’ll have to, especially so I can see Kerry Washington win (because she just HAS to).
    5. My goal for this month is to get organized! Hmm, maybe I’ll need to read that MS Living issue…

PS: I hope you make that PSL stitch thing (what would you even call it? cross stitch? embroidery?)! If you do, you’ll have to show us!

    • Hi Allyssa,

If I make the PSL embroidery, I will definitely, definitely share. I have a few other projects on deck first!

Grey’s is back a week from today! Amazing!

Ooo!! Do you prefer the Oscars? I always love the EMMYs because I watch so much TV.

      Good luck on the organization!

      xoxo

      • Nope, I don’t watch the Oscars either! I’ll occasionally watch some music award shows (VMAs, CMAs, etc), but lately that hasn’t been the case. They just can’t keep my attention! lol.

        • So funny! I’ll but on a music award show only if I have something else to do simultaneously! LOL! I usually just watch the most talked about clips the following day. xoxo

  5. 1. I don’t read any magazines at the moment. I would love to get my hands on the new Kinfolk though. i am just trying to save money so no new magazines for me 😛
2.Bob’s Bugers and Parks and Rec.
    3. i don’t drink coffee, but i think it is cute how excited people get about them.
    4. Nope. I don’t really watch award shows anymore.
    5. I need to make schedule for myself. I started a new job and a, trying to set a routine for myself again. Lately i feel like i have been floating around 😛

    • Hi Kimmy!

Everyone is talking about Kinfolk! Perhaps I should join you on that bandwagon.

Congratulations on the new job!! I hope you’re liking it! Good luck with the new routine!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  6. 1) Which magazine’s September Issue did you read first?
I have been super into the new weekly magazine from Giada, so that was definitely the first September issue I read. You can get it on your iPad for $2.99/month, it is absolutely worth it.
    2) What television shows are you most looking forward to returning? Yes, I said shows. Plural.
Scandal, Gray’s Anatomy, Castle, Top Chef, How I Met Your Mother
    3) Do you think Pumpkin Spice Lattes are worth their hype?
Negative ghost writer. Now ask me the same same question about egg nog lattes in a month or so!
    4) Will you be watching the EMMY’s this upcoming weekend?
Absolutely! I am already planning dinner around it
    5) The new school year always makes me think of new goals for myself. What’s a goal you have this month?
Ohh that’s a tough one, one of my goals is to sort out some sort of work situation that still allows me to build my blog which earning some sort of money to feed my Kate Spade and expensive food stuffs habit.

    • Hi Jessica!

I had no idea that Giada has a new magazine out! I’ll have to put it on my iPad and check it out!

I cannot wait for the return of Scandal!! It’s going to be SOOOO good!

I love that you said, “Negative, Ghost Writer!” Ah-mazing! Best reference of the week!

What are you making for EMMY dinner?

Let me know if you figure out the work situation, I’m rooting for you!!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  7. So honored to be included in #3! Thank you so much for the s/o, but even more, thank you for the lovely words on the essay. I’m so flattered and touched that the essay resonated with you.

    1) Which magazine’s September Issue did you read first? Vegetarian Times! Planning all the soup making!
    2) What television shows are you most looking forward to returning? MINDY PROJECT.
    3) Do you think Pumpkin Spice Lattes are worth their hype? Not really – I prefer pumpkin coffee or 1 pump of the pumpkin flavor. lattes have too much milk for me!
    4) Will you be watching the EMMY’s this upcoming weekend? Hmmm, maybe!
    5) The new school year always makes me think of new goals for myself. What’s a goal you have this month? My goal is to be active everyday! Going well so far :)

    • Hi Eileen!

It was absolutely my pleasure to include a link to your post! I’ve been thinking about that post for months, I really think you were onto something wonderful!

How do you make Pumpkin Coffee? Do you just put pumpkin flavoring into coffee?

Love the “being active everyday” goal! You go, girl!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  8. 1) Haven’t read any September issues… I know, I know. But now I want to read Martha Stewart!
    2) The only show I can think of that I am looking forward to the return of right now is Parenthood, but I am sure there are others I will watch. I am still behind on my summer shows, catching up on Newsroom is first on my list!
    3) PSL: not worth the hype. Every year I try one, and every year I remember that I dont like them! I think it is because, as I told a friend today, my world revolves around pumpkin pie and I always want it to taste like pumpkin pie but it doesnt! Nothing can compare! What I DO like about PSL time though is that it means Gingerbread Latte time is coming nearer.
    4) Yes! Excited for girls night watching the emmys!
    5) In addition to Show Gratitude, the inspiration behind my blog, my september goals are spend more time with family and stay organized! More reason to read martha’s issue about organization!

    Loved this chat! xo

    • Hi Jaime!

No September issues?! WOW! I didn’t see that one coming!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a gingerbread latte! Now I’ll have to try one!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

  9. 1) Which magazine’s September Issue did you read first?
This is a bit hard to answer because mostly these are dutch magazines. But English ones; I prefer a good fashion magazine like ELLE or an architecture magazine like MARK. The dutch ones are; 101woonideeeën with lots and lots of interior DIY ideas, Happinezz about life, yoga, meditation etc. and LINDA that’s like a ELLE magazine.

    2) What television shows are you most looking forward to returning? Yes, I said shows. Plural.
OH my….. a lot, grey’s of course, Downton Abbey, new girl (just begun last week), Graceland (you’ve got me hooked), Suits (just finished), Homeland and White collar.. Are there any series I definitely have to add to this??

    3) Do you think Pumpkin Spice Lattes are worth their hype?
Hmm I don’t know. Never had one.

    4) Will you be watching the EMMY’s this upcoming weekend?
Nope, unfortunately we can’t watch it in Bali.

    5) The new school year always makes me think of new goals for myself. What’s a goal you have this month?
To do something different with my life and my blog. It’s not really developing I think so something has to change.. but what..

    • Hi Claudia,

I’ve never seen MARK magazine, I’ll have to look for it the next time I’m in a book store!

How good was Graceland? Let me know when you’ve finished the season so we can discuss! I’m already so ready for it to be back next summer! Add Scandal, I think you’ll like it a lot!

Good luck figuring out how to develop everything more… keep me posted on the thought process and adventure! I can’t wait to follow along!

      xoxo,
      Stacey

      • I’ve finished the season of Graceland. I really liked it… I’m so curious about how it will go on.. Hopefully Mike goes back to Graceland :-)

By the way, did you already announce a new book club? Maybe I’ve missed it..

        xx

        • Hi Claudia!

I assume Mike will end up back at Graceland and that will be why Briggs called him for a favor. But man…it was so good! I can’t believe we have to wait until next summer for more!

I haven’t yet announced the next book club book, but I’ll email you when I do!

          xoxo,
          Stacey
